Mack Hansen: The guy with the Andy Farrell tattoo

It’s not every day you get your boss’ face tattooed on you, but it’s also not every day you help lead your country to a Grand Slam win. For Mack Hansen, adding another (Connacht team-mate Oisín Dowling, if you’re wondering) friendly face on his skin was simply a case of him staying true to his word.

Legendary tattoos to one side, we’re stoked to have the Irish international winger team up with Canterbury.

Bursting onto the international stage at the 2022 Six Nations for Ireland, Mack is renowned for his creativity, pace and skill, as well as some of the finest facial hair in World rugby.

Catching up with Mack, he said “Growing up in Australia, Canterbury has always been huge and known for producing awesome gear. Chatting with the team has been wicked and giving my thoughts on the latest equipment”.

“It’s exciting to team up with Canterbury, and keep an eye out for some saucy new wheels on game day”.

Mack’s link up with Canterbury comes off the back of the pivotal role he played in Ireland’s Six Nations Grand Slam win this year, earning two player of the match awards and crossing the whitewash three times in the process.

As attention now shifts to France this summer for the RWC 2023, with Ireland ranked as World no.1, we’re buzzing to see Mack light up the pitch on the biggest stage for the tournament favourites.

Born in Canberra, Australia, qualifying for Ireland via his Cork-born mother, Hansen cut his rugby teeth down under for Canberra Vikings, before pulling on the Brumbies Jersey in Super Rugby.

Hansen’s flair and ability across both the wing and full-back is clear for all to see, especially the scouts of Connacht who swooped in to sign him ahead of the 21-22 season.

It wasn’t long (or too many tattoos) into his stay on the Emerald Isle, that Andy Farrell called Mack up to Ireland’s Six Nations squad, turning in an epic player of the match debut performance during victory over Wales… and who can forget that cheeky kick-off try vs France?

The rest is history, as mercurial Mack continues to explode for both Connacht and Ireland, becoming one of the most influential players in an Ireland side bursting with talent.

Mack is going to be working with our product team on developing and refining our boots and apparel moving forwards, ensuring that they’re fit for the best in the World. We’re looking for promises on a Canterbury boot tattoo if he lifts the World Cup…
