Much can be written about the most successful club in English rugby. Year after year, the nine times Premiership champions graft out match-winning performances in the domestic league, and in European competitions. The Tigers have appeared in a record seven successive Premiership finals since 2005 and are also the most successful English side in Europe: back-to-back champions in 2001 and 2002 and losing finalists in 1997, 2007 and 2009. Leicester Football Club was formed in a meeting held in the city's George Hotel on August 1880 by the merger of three smaller teams: Leicester Societies AFC, Leicester Amateur FC and Leicester Alert. The club plays its home games at Welford Road Stadium, which was opened in 1892. Over 120 years later, this fortress crams in 24,000 passionate spectators, all eager to see more history being written. This new partnership with Canterbury will be a story of success in the future and will maintain both the Tigers and Canterbury brands as leaders in the rugby world.
